Day 29 (27 &28 catch up)
We had a wonderful weekend with John and Jacque! They have a beautiful and very busy home with 4 generations, which made for never a dull moment. I loved it but why wouldn't I!! We enjoyed air conditioned rooms that were bigger than a 25 foot RV, a swimming pooI, puzzles, busy work, entertainment, great food, wonderful homemade ice cream, and I wasn't in charge of anything! I got in the car when they told me to which resulted in many rewards: a church service/Bible class with a small group potluck following that brought back memories of my youth; a BBQ restaurant; amazing chicken home style restaurant that had lemon π pie (I would never turn down); a trip around town with a stop at John's alma mater to see a garden with a beautiful sculpture called Jacob's Ladder,
And a trip to a friends house where her walls were covered with fascinating paintings π¨ she had done, this one is with tissue paper and oils
John and Jacque send hugs to all the girls.
Day 29 we finished crossing Texas. Did you know it is 200 miles further across Texas than Montana? Well maybe the way we cameπ. There is definitely more to see in Texas and BETTER food. Western Texas looks more like home. You would have to switch juniper and bitter root for mesquite and cactus, and lava for limestone AND the humidity is continuing to drop π YAY π. Fields are plowed or planted with what appears to be cotton, sugar cane, corn and who knows what. There are very large ranches with large herds of cattle.
This stock yard went on for a few acres. We entered New Mexico π²π½ and mountain time.
Now it's starting to look and feel like home with juniper and bitter root and a few cactus thrown in.
As we drive into Santa Fe, where we will spend the night, we were greeted by a brief shower (maybe more of a down pour ☔️)
It is good to be "back on the road again", completing 5,609 miles. Alexa and Joey, remember that you're the red dot and we are the blue.
Not sure what direction from here but we look forward to what we have left to see and π‘ home.
HI FROM DAN AND I IN CLINIC!!! Dan says to enjoy new mexico and wave to his folks in Arizona if you pass through!
