Day 24
This was the first day in awhile that we got up without a mission. I liked it! We set out to find a donut shop in Round Rock that Bob remembered from his work travels here. And.. we found it.
Had to photo bomb Bob's cactus picture
It was worth it!!
Then I decided we should walk through an outlet mall, yeah that was a dumb idea. But it worked well because it was exercise and when it got too hot you stepped inside a store to look a minute and cool off. We completed the circle around the mall that had every store possible and managed to purchase one bottle of hand soap and a pair of flip flops. Big spenders.
Then to Mansfield Dam Park a big dam that formed a big lake (Lake Travis) with a park.
To have lunchIt was hotter today then it was yesterday so the water felt nice but Bob wouldn't swim with me so that was no fun. There were hundreds of little fish to swim with but they liked to nibble on you... that was weird. We did discover that the breeze coming directly off the lake was cooler than sitting where the breeze came over the parking lot 😓.
Then off to see friends we have known since they were little kids, and now they are beautiful young ladies. We all had dinner at "The Salt Lick", amazing BBQ.
While I visited with the girls, Bob & Dan discussed important things like jobs & careers, stock market investments, energy efficient cars, and why all the world's best BBQ is in Texas. Both agreed that their next car should be a Tesla!
I talked talked to both Alexa and Joey tonight. The first thing that they asked was "Where are you?" So this is for you guys. We're the blue dot you are the red dot!
Linda & I had some wonderful years in Austin, mostly attending UT.
ReplyDeleteIf you're still there, I strongly recommend heading out to The Oasis, an amazing set of huge multi-level outdoor porches overlooking Lake Travis. Get there early and stay for sunset.
Another good activity is to bicycle in the area of Town Lake (center of Austin). Lot's of paved bike trails, pretty flat, and you can bike to Barton Springs Pool - a large spring-fed outdoor pool. Great for a quick dip.
Lastly, Austin's 6th street is famous for live music - as good as NO or Nashville.
Enjoy TX.
