Day 23-Happy 4th of July

Today the scenery was very different from yesterday. We mostly traveled freeways. The terrain stayed fairly flat through Houston. With it being a holiday there wasn't much traffic. There are also not a lot of photo ops. The Houston skyline is nice

The NFL stadiums that we have seen are HUGE. This one was right beside the freeway so it took two picture to get it all.

I also found this vacant high rise interestingIt has graffiti all the way up!  How'd they do that?

And how about the "6" lane (in one direction) freeways. Houston moves traffic.  I wonder what rush hour looks like. Let's just write a bit about "Toll" freeways.  Seriously? In Houston it was fairly easy to navigate around toll roads. Austin, on the other hand, is a mess 😬. It was a bit difficult to navigate the construction and toll roads.

Over the course of the trip I have worked to secure things so they don't clank and have gotten pretty good at it. Evidently I should have checked the shelf brackets to make sure they weren't working loose.  You got it, I opened the door and "all" the dishes slid out.

With all the broken dish pieces in the sink and on the other side of the sofa I would have swore more then one dinner plate broke. Got to hand it to Corelle! So now I have secured the shelf and put anything that might be breakable on the bottom shelf.

The weather has continued to stay in the upper 90s. I think when we stopped today at "whataburger" it was over 100. And yes, that's the name of the restaurant and it was a very good burger. We are spending tonight North of Austin in Georgetown.  I think Bob and I both got a bit weary on the road today.

Happy 4th of July to all of you!  πŸ’₯ πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ’₯

  1. Happy 4th to you guys. We celebrated with a birthday party for Kira - lots of her friends and Amy's friends were here. Lots of fun. Kira is now 23 y.o. Wow.

Vana, you'll need to replenish those broken dishes at your usual hi-end shop: Goodwill.

  2. Whataburger is the best fast food burger in America (it actually won contest for that)! It's one of the only things we miss not being in Texas, lol. Also, you guys were lucky for going through Houston when you did. It's normally an absolute nightmare. Love seeing the updates!!
