Day 19
Day 19 has come and gone... we continued south through Mississippi. The vegetation is green but you sure know you are not in Oregon. We stopped at the "Delta Blues Museum" in Clarksdale, Mississippi. The museum was very interesting and was a step back in time. A couple times each year they have festivals to celebrate the music. The museum itself was in the old train depot.
Located on the edge of the old part of town. The buildings in the town were very old and most looked vacant
This is when I wish buildings could talk.... Then on to Vicksburg where we inadvertently got off the highway and drove through the town. Wow, a lot of history here, Indian war, civil war, racial riots, and where Coca Cola was first bottled at a candy store. The town is located in a hill over the Mississippi River. There are a lot of very old buildings some very well preserved, others in need of preservation. We completed the 290 miles from one end of Mississippi to the other along the western border. The night was spend in a Louisiana RV park watching "O Brother Where Art Thou" which was set in the Mississippi Delta. Have I mentioned the humidity? Well the humidity is high which is very sticky. Prior to the last two days we have been very comfortable just having the windows down. Not anymore between the heat, the humidity, wind, rolling hills and the air conditioner being on and we have sure noticed the gas mileage drop.
