Day 17 - Wednesday, June 28th, 2017
3425 miles but who's counting.... Bob!
We are somewhere between Nashville and Memphis. Today we started with a tour of the Sam Davis Farm. This is the road in..
I expected something very touristy. It was not, far from it. A little piece of preserved history from the Civil War era. We were able to see the original house the family lived in, and then tour the newer home that dates from the 1840s and was remodeled a couple years later to accommodate their growing family. We also saw the original smoke house, kitchen house, out house and family cemetery. There were slave houses that had been relocated to this site. There are also many beautiful old trees, several over 200 years old. The story of Sam Davis was quite depressing. The guide was very good.
Then on into Nashville. We managed to find a safe place to park Wilbur and then we walked through the downtown lower Broadway area and found a honky tonk where we sat (out of the heat) and listened to music.
That's the excitement for today and I enjoyed not being on the road. We got back to central time yesterday, so we are now 2 hours different from home.
